5 Tips For Establishing A Morning Routine

Here at Peaches, we are strong believers in the importance of a fabulous morning routine. Have you ever heard those annoying sunrise lovers preach “Win the morning, win the day”? Well that’s who we’ve become – and we are sorry to say, Peach – it works!. A morning routine is crucial for success; it truly is the establishing of a positive mental and physical state.

Before you stop reading – KNOW THIS – having a morning routine DOES NOT have to mean you have to be a morning person. We’re not asking you to get up at 5am every morning, so please chill – we are simply recommending you try out these simple and subtle steps to help your day flow a little more easily. A successful morning will guide you through the challenges that you face in the day, you will feel grounded and connected. No matter how small your routine is, it is a reminder that you deserve your own love and attention, every single day.

A beautiful way to look at this practice is by exploring the Buddhist monks’ perspective. When we think of a morning routine, we quite often think that the ticking off of our list is what will establish productivity. Whereas, we should be using our mornings to train our minds, to create a bright, stable and clear mindset; ultimately leading us to flow through our daily tasks with intention. When we are in this mindset, and when we are calm, we set the tone for efficiency and inspiration to come to us.

The morning activities we take part in should not be making us think more, this will happen as soon as we step out of our door, when it becomes chaotic and noisy. Make the body and mind your first priority in the morning, a time where you will now be most present, when your thoughts aren’t clouded, this is where we discover the art of listening to our body and controlling our thoughts.

You don’t need to look any further than your own self to establish your routine and set your goals. No watching youtube, no reading Insta captions, just sit with yourself and figure out what YOU truly need or crave. Your morning routine may change every morning and that’s ok, allow yourself to grow and change, our bodies weren’t created to be stagnant.

It is the sense of accomplishment every morning and the satisfaction of achieving the goals you set for yourself that will allow these steps to become your daily habits.

OK, get your checklist ready, peach, and every time you tick off one of these steps, give yourself a smile and tell yourself YOU ARE DOING AMAZING.

  1. Set your alarm for the same time every weekday morning and write your routine out BEFORE bed.
  2. Keep your eyes closed for a moment upon waking and just breathe. There is no rush yet, your mind is still from your rest, take advantage of this and bring yourself back to centre.
  3. Make your bed.
  4. Have a big glass of water.
  5. Get moving – NOTE: this does not have to be strenuous exercise. You may take 2 minutes to stretch, walk to your local coffee shop, or try one of our online Pilates classes. Our bodies crave movement, and whatever it is that your body is asking for, honour that. If time is of the essence, 10 burpees will only take you 2 minutes girl 😉 that will be just enough to get your blood flowing and the endorphins pumping.

A morning routine allows you to truly be present, because you are focusing on completing simple steps – but ultimately experiencing more in your life by finding meaning and satisfaction in the smallest of things.
